About the Founder - Caroline Surujpaul

Most investors pick one path. I didn't

Investment Banking, Law, Technology and experience in residential property combined at Pomelo Investments.

I've spent 25 years investing in residential property, not as a theory, but on the ground buying, managing tenants and navigating markets through rate cycles and building a portfolio that holds through market conditions. That experience sits at the heart of everything I do at Pomelo Investments.

My career consists of three fields. I started with a law degree which taught me to read structure, how to de-risk and analyse the details which makes or breaks a transaction. From there, I moved into investment banking primarily at Commerzbank in Debt Capital Markets advising fund managers. I learnt about the impact bond yields has on property pricing. More recently, as EMEA Marketing Director at Cisco for the last nine years, I oversaw growth from £500k to £1BN in revenue, working across strategy, data and commercial scaling.

The move into commercial property in 2026 is a considered one where I am able to apply the strategic thinking I've been developing throughout my career. I've also seriously invested in my commercial property education - completing a structured programme with a dedicated mentor and working alongside a cohort of commercial investors.

Alongside the commercial work; ethics and CSR have always mattered to me. I studied Sustainability at Oxford University/SAID business school and DEI at Cambridge University and am an author on the subject of AI and DEI. At Cisco I served as a Sustainability Ambassador and sat on the EMEA Women on Boards. These values shape how I approach partnerships and business. I want to build a business that is fair and transparent - one that takes it's responsibilities seriously to tenants, suppliers and the community these buildings sit within. This matters to me just a much as the returns.
